Lightning Insulators.
Lightning
Insulators, also known as Lightning Isolators,
help to route lightning strikes through safe areas
of aircraft structures.
They
are typically used within conventional metal fuel
lines and conduits and consist of a non-metallic
insulator attached either directly onto tube or
onto a separable coupling.
The
insulator is sufficiently conductive so as to
prevent the build-up of static electricity but
not enough to conduct the charge resulting from
a lightning strike.
